New Franchise Project

1. Do you think you were a successful business owner?
   Why or why not?
I do not think I was a successful business owner, I lost money in every season no matter what I changed.

2. What was your primary purpose in playing and managing this simulation?
By doing this assignment, I was able to learn how hard it is to gain money when investing so much of your own money in a business. I learned how hard it is to juggle every different thing that you need in order to run a successful business, in this case, licensing deals, sponsorship deals, ticket prices, staffing, etc.

3. What were the two main reasons for not making more money?
My licensing deals didn't make as much money as I hoped, I spent too much money on preseason advertising, and I hired too many unnecessary people.

4. What do you think you did best in the planning and running of your football team?
I think I did best in sponsorship deals, and licensing contracts, as well as ticket prices

5. What was your biggest weakness in running this simulation?
It seemed like no matter how much or how little money I would spend, I could never make a profit.

6. Explain how you managed yield management pricing?
On my second season I realized I couldn't spend endless amounts of money on advertising cause i would never be able to get it back. I did a survey on how much people would be willing to spend on tickets. After I knew the amount of money people would spend, I priced the front row seats at $40ish dollars because 10-15% of the city was willing to pay that much. Then I priced the 3rd row side at $5-8 because 10% of the population only wanted to spend $10 and below on ticket [priced.

7. Explain how you used market research to help your planning.
By doing market research I was able to figure out the wants and limits of my customers so I would know how to price things.

8. Explain how infrastructure the city's businesses affect the running of your team.
I used local businesses to sponsor my teams getting my teams name out around the city, and their businesses name inside my stadium.

9. Explain why it might be important to ask questions about devotion and ticket spending when trying to determine where to locate your team.
Because you want people to pay a good amount of money on tickets, or else you wont make a big profit.

10. What promotion would you like to receive if going to one of your games?
I would like to receive either the jacket, the helmet, or the hat.

Circus Aurelias

For my project, I contributed a lot. I researched a lot of information, and helped the other people in my group. We are not completely done yet because most of our group was absent, but we will finish over the weekend. My group thought the instructions in the book were not very clear and were hard to understand. We weren't really sure what to do, but then I'm pretty sure we figured it out.

Veiws on Black Friday and Cyber Monday

I think Black Friday and Cyber Monday and the whole shopping season is the best time of the year to shop. Yes, the stores will always be very packed, but the companies and stores seem to do a great job with the supply and demand. The reason why IO like it so much is because of all the deals that companies put out there that give you that feeling of relief. Items these days can sometimes be absurdly overpriced and the shopping season is the time when you can get that item for what it is actually worth. But But I also think that things like shopping on Thanksgiving is also very absurd as well. Thanksgiving is the one day of the year where you can eat the delicious food you have been waiting for for 365 days. It is the one Holiday where you can eat what ever you want, and how much you want without being judged. Midnight shopping I understand a little bit more, but I think Black Friday would be so much more enjoyable if shoppers and stores would wait until the morning of Black Friday to open and begin.

Promoting My Drink

  • List 3 ways I can provide a promotional mix for my sports drink:
  1. The Citrus Knight will be broadcasted on the Syracuse radio station.
  2. Shaqiulle O'Neil will be advertising the Citrus knight in all of the local newspapers.
  3. The Citrus Knight will also be broadcasted online at the Syracuse website, and on the local TV channels
  • How could I use the various types of print media to help promote my drink:
  1. The Citrus Knight will appear in newspaper ads that are available around the campus and around the local towns.
  2. The Citrus Knight will be hosted in ads in local magazines advertising the dink
  3. On all of the Syracuse score boards around campus, there will be an ad advertising the Citrus Knight. It will remain there forever.
  • Why I priced My Drink:
  1. I priced my drink based on drinks I see commonly at local stores. The Price of my drink $0.95 for a 12 ounce can. Most drinks that you will see around town and in supermarkets, that are also 12 oz., are only about $0.05 cents cheaper than where I priced my drink. I priced my drink about $0.05 cents more expensive because it has a mascot on it and it supporting a school. From what I know, people will buy a more expensive item if they know its supporting a cause or place, or something that means something to them, rather than a product than a product that just tastes good.

My Sports DInk

School: Syracuse University
Name: The Citrus Knight
Slogan: "Be Zesty"

3. Things I like about this project:

  1. We got to pick our own school, so since there are so many collages, everyone was guaranteed on of their top choices.
  2. We didn't have to present them in front of the class, instead, we walked around and took notes on each drink.
  3. Trying to come up with creative names and slogans was a fun challenge.
2. Things I learned about this project:
  1. I learned that the Syracuse Mascot is Otto the Orange. I've always been interested in Syracuse, but I never knew that they were the Syracuse Oranges either.
  2. Before Otto the Orange, the mascot was an Indian chief, but people thought the mascot was a depiction of what the stereotypical Indian looked like.
1. Things I didn't like about this project:
  1. The lack of time we had to actually had to create the bottle and the drink itself;.+
